Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Education Committee
The Education Committee provides advice and direction to RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health regarding education, vocational training and assessment issues relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
This Committee is a sub-committee of the RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Board.
Functions and Responsibilities
- Enhance excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health training and provide support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander registrars as part of general practice vocation training and post fellowship quality improvement and continuing professional development.
- Provide advice to RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Board on priorities for RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health from an educational perspective including the development, implementation and review of an education work plan.
- Consider any other matters relevant to general practice education as it relates to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health as required.
Composition
The Committee will be composed of:
- Chair or Deputy Chair of the National Faculty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health
- Faculty Censor
- Faculty Provost
- Four other RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health members who are Fellows of the RACGP
- Two Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members with experience in GP education.
From 1 January 2016 Committee terms will be for three years, with a maximum of two consecutive 3-year terms allowed. Members who have served the maximum two consecutive terms may be eligible for membership of the Committee following an absence of one 3-year term.

Meeting Frequency
The Committee will meet three times a year via teleconference for approximately 90 minutes. The Committee will also meet once a year for an all-day face-to-face meeting.
