Draft RACGP Vocational Training (VT) Standards – Call for Comments and Feedback
In early 2011, the RACGP in collaboration with the Association of Chief Executives (of Regional Training Providers) Training Standards group commenced the development of outcomes based standards for RACGP vocational training. The RACGP is seeking your comments and feedback on the draft RACGP vocational training standards that have been developed by this group.
There has been no change to the fundamental tenets of RACGP vocational training in the draft standards. However the nature of the draft standards has now shifted to outcome base standards with measurable indicators. The current RACGP 2005 vocational training standards have been incorporated into the draft standards wherever they best fit as an outcome or an indicator, or in some cases as an activity that supports delivery.
The draft RACGP vocational training standards aligns with RACGP’s mandate, providing minimum requirements that must be met to ensure the safety of communities, doctors-in-training and practices while doctors-in-training build competency for unsupervised General Practice.
The move to standards that are outcome based will enable the RACGP to receive better feedback and greater assurance that its mandate is in fact is being implemented in and through its training programs.
The College encourages you to review the attached discussion paper detailing the development of the standards as you review the draft standards.

The RACGP invites your comment and feedback on the draft vocational training standards. You are invited to provide initial feedback by 21 October 2011.
Please note, comments received after the 21 October 2011 are welcome but will be reviewed at a later stage of the development of the standards.
