The RACGP Research Foundation

'Investing for the future of general practice'

The RACGP Research Foundation aims to attract and disseminate funds to support research and researchers in general practice through the provision of scholarships, fellowships, grants and awards.

The RACGP sets the standards for quality general practice care, education and training in Australia, but it is general practice research, which serves as the foundation of the evidence base that is central and critical to the setting and maintaining of these standards.

The RACGP Research Foundation will enhance general practice researcher opportunities, especially for new and emerging GP researchers. High quality General Practice research is a critical component of developing the evidence base required for the continuing development of high quality general practice care for the Australian community.

RACGP Research “Making a difference”

The RACGP Research Foundation is proud to announce its new publication ‘Making a difference: General practice research – our patients, our community, our future’ which showcases the work of inspiring GPs who lead the field of general practice research. The ‘Making a difference’ booklet features ten GPs who were able to investigate research questions arising from their daily practice with the support of the RACGP Research Foundation.

‘Making a difference’ highlights the diverse stories of early career and established GP researchers from around Australia. The stories include a range of projects, including indigenous health, rural health, women’s health, cardiovascular research and more. ‘Making a difference’ tells these stories in an easy to read format that enables potential GP researchers to appreciate the diversity of research topics that are undertaken in Australian general practice, along with practical considerations for GPs interested in research.

This booklet is suitable for the general community and can be distributed to practitioners, benevolent foundations and patients in your waiting room who will all benefit from the growing research capacity of Australian GPs.

A PDF version of ‘Making a difference’ is available here . Hard copies of ‘Making a difference’ are available by contacting the RACGP Research Foundation on 03 8699 0481 or by emailing research@racgp.org.au.
