The improvement of general practice primary care services

Submission to the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission

25 August 2008

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) recommends that the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission (NHHRC) strengthen the health of Australian communities by practice teams under the clinical leadership of GPs through:

  • a preventive and early intervention health focus
  • improved services to patients with complex and chronic clinical conditions.

The RACGP strongly supports reform which leads to a health system which is easier for patients to navigate, and which provides high quality care at a convenient location.
