Putting Prevention into Practice:
Implementing prevention programs in general practice
This Putting prevention into practice education module is designed to provide general practice teams with the ability to successfully implement relevant prevention strategies into everyday practice.
The aim of the module is to increase knowledge, understanding and practitioner skills in putting prevention into practice, and to raise awareness of the value of evidence based strategies for the implementation of prevention in the general practice setting. It contains a mixture of the theory behind implementing prevention, and practical case studies and activities to help develop prevention programs.
The module has been designed for use by GPs, general practice registrars, practice managers, practice nurses, other practice staff and divisions of general practice.
Delivery methods
The module forms a flexible package that can be undertaken in one of two ways so that users can choose the method that best suits their needs:
- Facilitated workshop in an active learning module style, using the Facilitator guide and PowerPoint slides, plus Participant handbook.
- Small group or individual learning, using the Self directed learning guide.
