GP15 Day 2: Exhibition and convocation
The second day of the GP15 Conference for General Practice got moving in the early hours yesterday, with the RACGP Foundation Walk kicking off at 7.00 am. Walkers braved Melbourne’s early-morning cold – and even some hail – to walk along the city’s famed Yarra River.
Once presentations got underway, GPs and other delegates were able to learn about and discuss a huge range of healthcare topics, such as working with drug-seeking patients, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, new hypertension guidelines, managing obesity in general practice, and many more.
The exhibition hall was buzzing throughout the day. Attendees had the opportunity to visit one of the dozens of exhibitors, while many took advantage of the ‘Recharge Lounge’ digital cafe, where they could go online, chat with colleagues and even receive a quick massage. GPs also took to Twitter in huge numbers, joining the conversation and discussing everything they were learning at the #GP15Melb hashtag.
The 58th Annual General Meeting and Convocation of the RACGP was a major event of Day 2 of the conference, with members able to voice their thoughts and ideas about general practice.
‘Convocation provides members with the opportunity to raise matters of significance with other members and inform the RACGP Council about issues that GPs consider important,’ RACGP President Dr Frank R Jones said.
Many lucky delegates finished their second day of GP15 at the RACGP National Rural Faculty’s UN-urban cocktail function on the South Wharf Promenade.
