GP Profile: Renaissance doctor

When long-time Tasmanian GP Frank Madill was awarded as a Member of the Order of Australia on this year’s Australia Day for his ‘significant service to the Parliament of Tasmania, to medicine as a general practitioner and to the community’, it was the culmination of a varied and exciting life in medicine.

‘It is an incredible honour and I feel very privileged and grateful,’ he told Good Practice.

‘If I had not stayed in Tasmania, I would not have been able to have done the things I became involved in. Everywhere I turned, people were helpful, encouraging, supportive. Just wonderful people. It is really a lot to do with them that I have been able to achieve the things I have.’
