The RACGP AMC Bridging Program has been developed to meet the needs of doctors with overseas qualifications who are preparing to sit the Australian Medical Council's examinations. The Program is designed to rapidly improve candidates’ professional knowledge in the areas necessary to pass the AMC examinations and for subsequent clinical practice.
The Bridging Program can assist doctors who trained overseas and who
- are seeking professional recognition in Australia;
- are preparing for the AMC examinations;
- have experienced difficulties with past AMC examinations;
- are seeking guided learning to target performance gaps before sitting the AMC examinations.
There are three courses in the RACGP AMC Bridging Program
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) Course (10 weeks)
for doctors who are beginning the process of AMC registration.
This is a 10 week program which is a combination of doing 40 MCQs online each week for 10 weeks and attending 3 weekend workshops. Before the 2nd and 3rd workshop, participants undertake a 125 MCQ Mock Exam and the results and answers are gone through one-by-one in detail at the workshops.
- Clinical Skills Course (each Friday for 8 weeks with the Trial Exam being held on the following Saturday), for doctors who have passed the AMC MCQ examination and who are now preparing for the AMC Clinical exam, or who have experienced difficulties with this exam in the past.
- Structured Clinical Assessment (1 day multi-station mock exam) for doctors who wish to assess their readiness to sit the AMC clinical exam.
RACGP offers a comprehensive and integrated program for doctors with overseas qualifications who are preparing to sit the Australian Medical Council examinations. The inter-related courses that make up the program are developed and taught by experienced medical educators who have examiner experience. They not only help identify and target individual performance gaps but also demonstrate in detail how the examinations work and how they are assessed, and what standards must be met in order to pass.
