Trial of database package including CINAHL Plus with Full Text & MEDLINE with Full Text

The Library is currently running a trial of a suite of full text databases covering a broad range of subject areas including medicine, health, nursing, allied health, psychology and behavioural sciences.

QA&CPD: D.I.Y. Active Learning Modules (ALM)

It’s handy for GPs to know that Category 1ALMs are not only developed by Providers of GP education but GPs can create their own ALM too! An individual ALM mirrors a Provider ALM but offers a more personal learning experience as they are true only to the needs of the individual.

Health alert - High levels of iodine in BonSoy soy milk

BonSoy is a soy milk product distributed nationally in Australia. Tests have shown it to contain extremely high levels of iodine and consumption has been linked to clinical thyrotoxicosis and, less commonly, hypothyroidism. Iodine crosses the placenta and may cause foetal and neonatal hypothyroidism which can cause developmental problems in the newborn.

Intravenous Promethazine - risk alert

Hospira Australia has advised the college of a safety-related update to the DBL Promethazine Hydrochloride Injection BP Product Information regarding a possible association between intravenous use of promethazine and the development of severe tissue injury including gangrene, which may require surgical intervention including fasciotomy, skin graft, and/or amputation.
