The RACGP John Murtagh Library
Library Services for Registrars
We urge Registrars, if they haven't already, to use their web account with the RACGP website. This will grant you access to many of the Library website's secure features.
Our services include:
Access to a unique and specialised collection in general practice,
medical education and research:
With approximately eight thousand titles including books, videos,
journals, CD-ROMs, slides and sound recordings. Search the catalogue online and let us know your requests.
Literature searches on request:
For all your research needs, contact the Library with the details and we
will find the relevant articles for you. Alternatively, use this online
form, or search our version of PubMed (Medline) directly.
Databases:
The Library offers access to trial and ongoing databases such as Proquest and Meditext, both of which
offer an enormous collection of online, health-related, peer-reviewed
articles and journals. We also provide access to DynaMed, an evidence-based
clinical reference tool created for use by doctors and other health care
professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care'.
Current Awareness Services:
We will email you monthly with articles from the subject area of your
choice. See the "ETOC" section of the Journal Service in the main
library webpage. Alternatively, we can post you a regular paper version
of this service.
The Journal Services:
Discover and use our comprehensive collection of up-to-date medical journals, such as the Oxford Medical Journals
collection.
Document delivery from other libraries:
If we do not hold the item, we will locate journal articles and books
held in other libraries as part of our document delivery service. The
items will then be sent to you.
Training on request:
Learn to do your own searching and information retrieval. Search
Cochrane and PubMed with greater accuracy. Contact Jane Ryan for further
details.
