Australia Day Honours 2010
Dr George Romano Santoro, Toorak VIC – Officer of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine through contributions to a wide range of advisory and professional bodies, and to the Italian community.
Dr Richard Huish Ashby, Coorparoo QLD – Member of the Order of Australia. For service to emergency medicine, to medical administration, and to a range of professional associations.
Dr Peter David Goldsworthy, Adelaide SA – Member of the Order of Australia. For service to literature as an author and poet, through arts administration, and to the community.
Dr Merilyn Joyce Liddell, Surrey Hills VIC - Member of the Order of Australia. For service to tertiary education and administration, particularly in the discipline of medicine, and to cross-cultural exchange and co-operation with Malaysia.
Dr Robyn Margaret Walker, ACT - Member of the Order of Australia. For exceptional service as a medical officer in the Australian Defence Force.
Dr Fabio Robert Brecciaroli, Pelican Waters, QLD - Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine, particularly through the provision of palliative care services, and to the community of the Sunshine Coast.
Dr Edward William Brentnall, Southbank, VIC - Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to acute and emergency medicine, particularly through the development of innovative procedures.
Dr Timothy Duncan Hannah, Bardon, QLD - Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine as a general practitioner in the Katherine region.
Dr Terrence Joseph Horgan, St Ives, NSW - Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to the community as a fundraiser for Catholic charitable organisations.
Dr Christopher John Kennedy, Townsville QLD - Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medical administration and medical education in north Queensland.
Dr Keith Jacob Lipshut, Wangaratta VIC - Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to the community of Wangaratta, and as a general practitioner.
Dr John Douglas McKee, Bega NSW - Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to the community of Bega, to medicine, and to Rotary.
Dr Bruce Graham Menzies - Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to the arts in the Armidale region, particularly music, and as a general practitioner.
Dr Peter Papworth Thomas, Mount Marshall QLD - Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to emergency medicine in Queensland, and to a range of professional associations.
Dr John James Patten, Ascot QLD – Public Service Medal. For outstanding public service to Queensland Health in the development of sexual health medicine in Queensland.
Queen’s Birthday Honours 2009:
Professor Michael Richard Kidd (RACGP Fellow and Past President), Potts Point NSW – Member of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine and education in the areas of general practice and primary health care and through a range of professional organisations.
Dr Joseph Frederick Pereira, Castle Hill NSW – Member of the Order of Australia. For service to the welfare of Burmese refugees and migrants, particularly through humanitarian aid and advocacy roles, and as a general practitioner.
Dr Marguerette Joyce Hill, Beijing, China – Member of the Order of Australia. For service to international humanitarian aid in China through the provision of medical and foster care for children with disabilities
Dr David John Scrimgeour, St Peters SA – Member of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine through the development and delivery of services and programs in remote Indigenous communities, and to public health research.
Dr Peter Thomas Bastable, Mackay Qld – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to the development and delivery of emergency medicine in the Mackay region.
Dr Gorur Krishna Harinath, Kogarah NSW – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to cricket through executive roles at state and national level, and to the community.
Dr John Stephen Howe, Lyneham ACT – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine as a general practitioner.
Dr Warwick Jason Mackay (RACGP Member), Ebenezer NSW – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine as a general practitioner, and to the community.
Dr Giuseppe Guido Panizza, North Perth WA – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to the Italian community of Perth.
Dr John Douglas Robinson, Chippendale NSW – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine as a general practitioner, and to the community through the Sydney City to Surf fun run.
Dr Peter Michael Stevens, Heyfield VIC – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to rural medicine as a general practitioner and educator.
Dr Micheil Francis Sweet, New Norfolk TAS – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine as a general practitioner, and to the community of the Derwent Valley.
Dr Trevor James Tierney (RACGP Associate), Bonalbo NSW – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine as a general practitioner, and to the community of Bonalbo.
We would also like to acknowledge Mr Gordon Nigel Gregory, Hughes ACT. He received a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community through the National Rural Health Alliance.
