2012 RACGP Honorary Awards
Nominations for the following awards are open from 10 April 2012– 8 June 2012
These awards will be presented on Wednesday 24 October 2012 at the RACGP Academic Session, Fellowship and Awards Ceremony to be held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre (GP12 Conference). For more information and to register for GP12, visit www.gpconference.com.au
Rose-Hunt Award
The Rose-Hunt Award is the highest accolade awarded by the RACGP. The award is a gift from the Royal College of General Practitioners to the RACGP. The Royal College of General Practitioners, through its President, Dr G.I Watson, on 5 October 1972, presented twelve silver medals to the Australian College commemorating two of its founding member, Lord Hunt of Fawley (the first Honorary secretary) and Dr Fraser Rose. The first award was made in October 1974 to Dr W.A. Conolly, a founding father of the RACGP.
The Rose-Hunt Award is awarded to a College Fellow or Member, who – in the opinion of Council – has rendered outstanding service in the promotion of the objects of the College, either by individual patient care, organisation, education, research or any other means. Outstanding service may be over a period of ten years or a substantial and significant contribution to general practice over a shorter period. Nominations can be made by two Fellows of the RACGP. Life Fellowship
Life Fellowship is awarded to a Fellow of the RACGP in recognition of outstanding and meritorious service to the College. Nominations can be made by two members of the RACGP, of whom at least one must be a Fellow. Honorary Fellowship
Honorary Fellowship may be awarded to College Fellows and Members and members of other colleges or academies. In very special or unusual circumstances, non-medical persons may be considered for eligibility.
The general criteria which should be followed when considering eligibility are: service to the RACGP and or/general practice, service to medicine in the fields of education, research or administration and general service to the community. Nominations can be made by two members of the RACGP, of whom at least one must be a Fellow. Honorary Membership
Honorary Membership may be awarded to persons who do not hold a registrable medical qualification and have given long and meritorious service to the RACGP and/or general practice. Nominations can be made by two members of the RACGP, of whom at least one must be a Fellow. To nominate for an Honorary Award please download the applicable form below. A separate form is to be completed for each nomination.
