The RACGP Foundation

Invest in your future

Australian general practitioners (GPs) are at the forefront of community health, providing over 125 million general practice consultations each year.

You may be aware of the role The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) plays in supporting GPs in their pursuit of clinical excellence, delivering advocacy, professional development, e-health and a range of products and supporting services.

You may, however, not be as aware of the RACGP’s commitment to research through The RACGP Foundation. The RACGP Foundation supports research in general practice, through the attraction and dissemination of funding for key projects, offering research grants, awards and scholarships which underpin the profession’s commitment to continuous improvement.

To find out how you can become involved, please call 1800 331 626 or alternatively download the brochure.

Donation and bequest forms can be posted to:

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners 1 Palmerston Crescent, South Melbourne, Victoria 3205

Or sent via email to: foundation@racgp.org.au.

The role of the Foundation, through its Board and staff, is to seek donations, bequests and in-kind support through approaches to members of the College, corporations, government, trusts, foundations and others and disseminate funds through the award of scholarships, grants and prizes to general practitioners and other persons in support of research, educational, and other projects identified as fostering a positive change in general practice with the overall objective of improving the health of all Australians.

Research Grants

In 2011, 18 research grants were available to RACGP member general practitioners or general practice registrars through the RACGP Foundation. New and emerging general practitioner researchers are encouraged to apply each year. The RACGP Foundation supports GP researchers through facilitating networking with experienced researchers, allocation of QI&CPD points for research participation, and the opportunity to apply for one of the grants and scholarships awarded each year.
