If you are interested in Financial assistance, in the form of a loan to meet the cost of the course fee, please email gpeducation@racgp.org.au

The RACGP AMC Bridging Program has been developed to meet the needs of doctors with overseas qualifications who are preparing to sit the Australian Medical Council's examinations. The Program is designed to rapidly improve candidates' professional knowledge in the areas necessary to pass the AMC examinations and for subsequent clinical practice.

The Bridging Program can assist doctors who trained overseas and who:

  • are seeking professional recognition in Australia;
  • are preparing for the AMC examinations;
  • have experienced difficulties with past AMC examinations;
  • are seeking guided learning to target performance gaps before sitting the AMC examinations.

The RACGP offers two AMC Bridging Courses:

  1. Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Bridging Course is a 10 week course conducted online with 3 weekend workshops.

    Each week for 10 weeks, the participants receive 40 MCQs ONLINE which are available for 2 weeks, 24 hours a day.

    In addition, there are 3 weekend workshops.  The first one is Saturday only as an orientation day.  Before the second and third workshops, participants do a Trial exam online with 125 MCQs completed within a 3 hour time period.

    All the questions have been upgraded and reviewed to ensure they reflect the style and breadth of topics undertaken in the AMC MCQ exam.

  2. Clinical Skills Bridging Course (each Friday for 8 weeks, or Tuesday in Perth, with the Trial Exam held on the following Saturday), for doctors who have passed the AMC MCQ examination and who are now preparing for the AMC Clinical exam, or who have experienced difficulties with this exam in the past.

Testimonials

“The AMC Bridging Course is one of a kind. It is one of the most extensive review classes I ever attended. It has been supported and backed up with current issues, trends and updates in the medical profession. It covers a vast and wide area of academic discipline to augment our basic knowledge and clinical decision making of different cases in the field of Medicine, Psychiatry, Surgery, Pedaetrics, Obstetric & Gynecology and Community Health Medicine.”
- Argel B. Arrieta, AMC Bridging Course participant

“I just wanted to say thanks to your entire team of educators at RACGP. I just saw my results on the AMC website for the clinical exam and I passed! I am so happy! Each one of them had made it a point to teach us the technique required to pass the exam, which I found very useful. Coming from a different country it was difficult to understand what was expected from us and how we needed to deliver the information to patients and the course helped me understand this.”
- Ashisha Kallukaran, AMC Bridging Course participant

"Many thanks to the MCQ Bridging Program that gave me the edge and for allowing overseas trained doctors like me the opportunity to do so."
- Tapukura Rairi, AMC Bridging Course participant
