RACGP Curriculum Renewal 2011 Call for Comments

The RACGP is currently updating the Curriculum for Australian General Practice to meet the needs of the changing clinical, educational and training environment. Invitation to comment is extended to all members, stakeholders, health organisations and community members.

The RACGP Curriculum Renewal process is open to all individuals and organisations to ensure that the Australian public has the opportunity to help shape general practice to meet the needs of the Australian community.

The parts of the curriculum available for update are:

  • Definition of curriculum
  • Context of Australian general practice
  • Learning life of GPs
  • RACGP 2007 Curriculum Statements

Note: The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health curriculum statement has recently undergone review and is not part of this Curriculum Renewal process.

How to submit your comments on the RACGP Curriculum for Australian General Practice.

Background data information, such as statistical and epidemiological information in the curriculum, is currently being updated. However, any further background data supplied by submissions to the review process will be gratefully accepted.

When considering your comments, please include the following aspects which have been identified as evolving issues in the current general practice training environment:

  • Management
  • Teamwork
  • Teaching
  • Quality and Safety
  • Leadership
  • Research
  • eHealth

In addition, suggestions for learning and teaching resources for each curriculum area will be very welcome. This may include recommended texts, resources, websites, educational programs and health organisations.
