Overview

Many deaths from heart disease occur outside the hospital and present as sudden cardiac arrest. Resuscitation is possible and all general practices should be capable of providing this level of care.

To increase the number of GPs capable of performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the Clinical Emergency Management Program has developed a train the trainer workshop with the aim of producing CPR trainers who are:

  • confident and competent in performing CPR
  • confident and competent in teaching and assessing CPR in others
  • confident and competent in facilitating CPR training.

This course has been developed in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines and will be facilitated by certified intensive care paramedic and a team of paramedic medical educators. All educators have at least 10 years experience in emergency medical situations and Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace training.

Workshops will be held annually at the RACGP’s annual Conference for General Practice. See upcoming workshops listed below for further details.

The CPR Train the Trainer 2012 Workshop is suitable for Medical Educators who are teachers, supervisors or mentors.
