College awards

The College has a number of regular awards and grants. Click on the links below to find out more information for each award or grant. Grants are also available from the RACGP Research Foundation.


GP of the Year, General Practice of the Year, and GP Registrar of the Year Awards (Nominations open from 1 March to 30 June)

The GP, GP Registrar and the Practice of the Year awards have been created to salute the dedication of general practitioners and reward those GPs who truly strive for excellence and who make a difference.

Rose - Hunt Award (Nominations open from 1 March to 30 June)

The Rose Hunt Award is a gift of The Royal College of General Practitioners to The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and commemorates the names Fraser Rose and Lord Hunt, founders of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Life Fellowship (Nominations open from 1 March to 30 June)

Life Fellowship is the highest award of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and is reserved for outstanding and meritorious service to the College.

Honorary Fellows/Honorary Members (Nominations open from 1 March to 30 June)

Honorary Fellowships may be awarded to College Fellows and Members, members of other colleges or Academies.

Standing Strong Together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Award (Nominations open from 1 March to 30 June)

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standing Strong Together Award was established in response to a recommendation from the third national face to face meeting of general practitioners and others working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Rural General Practice Registrar of the Year Award

The National Rural Faculty Rural General Practice Registrar of the Year award is open to Rural GP registrars who are enrolled in the Fellowship of Advanced Rural General Practice/Graduate Diploma in Rural General Practice in the 2007 / 2008 financial year.

The National Rural Faculty Medical Undergraduate Student Bursary

The award is offered by the National Rural Faculty (NRF) of the RACGP to a medical student who is a member of a Rural Health Students Club at an Australian University.
