Requirements for Fellowship
The College sets the standards for training, examinations and assessments in general practice. Attainment of the Fellowship of the RACGP is necessary to become vocationally registered for independent general practice in Australia under the Medicare system.
In 2005, the RACGP developed a set of standards designed to ensure that general practice training and assessment met the standards required to prepare those entering unsupervised general practice in Australia.
"Standards for General Practice Education and Training:
Programs and Providers" details requirements for providers of GP
training.
"Standards for General Practice Education and Training: Trainers
and Training Posts" details requirements of training posts and of
GP trainers at those posts.
"Requirements for Fellowship" details the requirements for
achievement of FRACGP via the various pathways to Fellowship.
