Examination and Results
1) Assessments offered at the RACGP
The College currently offers two forms of assessment to determine eligibility to apply for Fellowship. These assessments are the College Examination and Practice Based Assessment.
The College Examination
The College Examination consists of three segments which can be undertaken either in one examination period or separately. The examination segments are:
- AKT – Applied Knowledge Test - an extended multiple choice exam
- KFP – Key Feature Problems - a mixture of extended multiple choice and short answer questions.
- OSCE – Objective Structured Clinical Examination - a combination of 14 short and long clinical cases

Practice Based Assessment
Practice Based Assessment candidates are examined based on three segments which must be undertaken in one stream. Candidates unable to successfully complete all three segments in one stream will need to re-attempt all three segments in a subsequent stream. The three segments are:
- Videotaped consultations – Assessment by a College examiner of 15 out of 90 consultations videotaped by a candidate
- Examiner Clinical Visit – Observation by a College examiner of a candidate’s general practice session, with a minimum of ten patients, at the candidate’s practice
- Viva – videotaped oral examination over a 120 minute period

3) Enrolment
(i) To Enrol
The next enrolment period will commence at 9am AEST on Monday 18 October 2010 and close at 5pm AEST on Friday 10 December 2010.
Submit your Enrolement form and relevant documentation via post to the Assessment Department by 5 pm AEST 10 December 2010.
(ii) Enrolment policies

4) How exams are marked

5) Results
2010.1 AKT results were released on 23 April 2010.
2010.1 KFP and OSCE results will be released on 18 June 2010.
2010.2 AKT results will be available 8 October 2010
2010.2 KFP & OSCE results will be available 3 December 2010
2010.1 PBA Assessment results will be available 8 October 2010

6) Awards
There are several awards offered for candidates who excel in examinations, which are administered by the RACGP Faculties. Candidates eligible for awards are contacted via mail and phone.
7) After successful completion of all assessments
Candidates who have successfully completed all assessments relevant to their pathway should apply for admission to Fellowship. Information about admission to Fellowship can be found at www.racgp.org.au/assessment/pathways/fellowship
The College makes available to GPs a Quality Assurance and Continuing Professional Development program. Further information is available at www.racgp.org.au/QACPD.
