The RACGP reaccreditation submission 2006 to the Australian Medical Council

The RACGP is very pleased to announce that the Australian Medical Council (AMC) has extended the accreditation of the college for its general practice education standards and processes to the maximum possible period, to December 2009. In August 2006 the RACGP hosted a six person review team from the AMC led by Professor Richard Smallwood. The RACGP received initial AMC accreditation of our education and training programs in 2003.

The reaccreditation visit in 2006 provided the RACGP with the opportunity to review our significant developments in education, training and assessment, our work on standards setting and our innovations in education delivery over the past three years. The RACGP educational services team would like to thank all Fellows, members and staff for their support in achieving this excellent result.

The RACGP submission to the AMC (2006) and the full Australian Medical Council Accreditation Report: Training leading to Fellowship of the RACGP (July 2007) is provided below.

The RACGP looks forward to implementing the recommendations contained in the AMC report and in doing so continue to provide quality education and training that meets AMC standards.
