Templates for child and adult health checks have been developed by the Healthy for Life team with the Southern General Practice Network.

Please note these templates have been developed for use in the south east of NSW. Users in other locations are advised to check against local preventive health guidelines for additional preventive health activities that may be relevant in their locations.

Please send Jodie Griffin (JGriffin@sgpn.com.au) any feedback on the templates as they will be reviewed annually. There are also templates available for use with Medical Director.

National best practice guidelines for collection Indigenous status in health data sets
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are under-identified in many health-related data collections. Developed by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, the Best Practice Guidelines documents the recommended national approach to ensure the standard Indigenous status question is asked correctly and consistently of all clients of health services, and that this information is recorded properly.

Health Impact Assessment of the Northern Territory Emergency Response
The Australian Indigenous Doctor's Association (AIDA) and Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity (CHETRE) has launched the Health Impact Assessment (HIA). The HIA responds to the Howard Government's Northern Territory Emergency Response, and predicts the positive, negative and/or unintended health consequences. Indigenous patients and culture
On 23 July 2010, SBS conducted an interview involving Dr Brad Murphy (Chair, RACGP National Faculty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health), Justin Mohamed (Chair of NACCHO) and Dr Jenny Reath (Deputy Chair, RACGP National Faculty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health). The topic was a new program aimed to help in the medical treatment of Australia 's Indigenous people, by raising doctors' cultural awareness.
