The final report and many presentations from this workshop are now available. The workshop provided support for general practitioners (GPs) and others working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, as well as a forum for sharing ideas.

GP Training and Support in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
This report describes the outcomes of a series of projects aimed at improving the support and training for GPs working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The projects included the NACCHO GP Network, Cultural Safety Training Review and National Pilot, Support for the Accreditation of General Practices in the Northern Territory, Distribution of Resources and Provision of Library Services. All apart from the last were funded by the Department of Health and Ageing. They were coordinated by the RACGP National Rural Facultv between 2004 and 2005.
Outcomes of the GP Cultural Safety Training 2006
This report describes the outcomes of the GP Cultural Safety Training, piloted by the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia with assistance from the RACGP in all states and in the NT between April and July 2005.
Review Of Cultural Training For GPs Working In Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Health
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) has been contracted by the Department of Health and Ageing to work with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO), the Australian Indigenous Doctors' Association (AIDA) and peak GP organisations to provide further support and training for General Practitioners (GPs) working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

The RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women's Project: Supporting GPs to Improve Early Detection and Management of Breast and Cervical Cancer in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women
This document reports on a model, piloted in three regions (Coonamble in NSW, Adelaide, SA and Mackay in Queensland), to link GPs and their local Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services with national support, to develop and implement a locally based plan for improving GP prevention and management of breast and cervical cancer.

Aboriginal Health Resource List
This evaluation, commissioned by the National Rural Faculty, RACGP under the auspices of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Projects, was undertaken in 2001 to evaluate the quality of Aboriginal health training delivered by the RACGP Training Program and to identify strategies to improve the implementation of the curriculum. Recommendations are included.

Final Report from the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Council on project: Second Edition of Aboriginal Primary Health Care: an Evidenced Based Approach
Describes a project funded by the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health projects to revise and develop an expanded second edition of the text Aboriginal Primary Health Care. All existing chapters were revised by updating the evidence and new chapters added. This text will be available in September 2003.

Early Detection and Management of Breast and Cervical Cancer
This report, prepared by James Cook University , contains current information on breast and cervical cancer in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander women, notes the barriers and strategies relevant to General Practice, documents current initiatives aimed at improving this area of health care and recommends areas of action for GPs and others involved in the primary health care of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander women.
The Needs of GPs and Registrars Working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health
This assessment of the support and training needs of general practitioners (GPs) and General Practice Registrars (GP Registrars) working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health was undertaken by the Rural Faculty of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). Funding was provided by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing (DHA) from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the New Training Arrangements underspend.
