Awards offered annually by the RACGP Foundation.
Alan Chancellor Award
The Alan Chancellor award is presented to the best first time presenter of a research paper at an RACGP Annual Scientific Convention. The award was donated by Dr Alan Chancellor to support new and emerging researchers in the field of general practice.
Family Medical Care, Education and Research Grant
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners has funded General Practice research since 1980 through its Family Medical Care Education and Research Foundation. The program is designed to promote research into aspects of family health care.
National Asthma Council Award
The National Asthma Council Award is awarded annually by the National Asthma Council to the best presenter of an asthma related abstract or poster at the RACGP Annual Scientific Convention. The award is to the value of $500 and is presented at the closing ceremony.
Primary Care Collaborative Cancer Clinical Trials Group (PC4) Research Grant
The Primary Care Collaborative Cancer Clinical Trials Group (PC4) Research Grant was established in 2010 to build capacity in cancer research in primary care, and to mentor early and mid-career researchers in general practice.
PWH Grieve Memorial Award
The PWH Grieve Memorial Award is designed to support a plan of study in medical education for general practitioners or general practitioner registrars.
RACGP Best General Practice Research Article in Australian Family Physician (AFP) Award
The RACGP National Standing Committee-Research (NSC-R) and the Australian Family Physician (AFP) will together award the 'Best general practice research article in the AFP Journal' award.
RACGP Chris Silagy Research Fellowship
The Chris Silagy Research Scholarship is for research into an aspect of Evidence-Based Primary Health Care by a general practitioner or general practice registrar, who has completed or is undertaking a higher degree (Masters/PhD/MD).
RACGP Research Grant for a Pilot Study
The Research Grant for a Pilot Study aims to fund methodologically rigorous pilot work that is designed to contribute to the future application for funding for a large scale study, for example, through the National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC). This one grant is to the value of $20,000 per annum. Applicants for this scheme need to clarify in detail how the pilot work would lead to an application to a nationally competitive grant scheme in 2011/2012. It is expected that the research team for this grant would include experienced investigators to facilitate successful transition to competitive funding for the future full scale study.
RACGP/Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute (APHCRI) Indigenous Health Award
The RACGP recognises that improving the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is one of Australia's highest health priorities. The RACGP/APHCRI Indigenous Health Award is designed to support medical students to gain experience in indigenous health, indigenous medical graduates undertaking GP training, registrars and GPs undertaking research and educational projects in indigenous health and other activities supporting the provision of high quality health care to indigenous people.
RACGP/Centre of National Studies on Disability and Rehabilitation Medicine (CONROD) Research Fellowship
The RACGP/CONROD Research Fellowship (originally Queensland Motor Accident Insurance Commission Fellowship) was established jointly by the RACGP and the Centre of National Research on Disability and Rehabilitation Medicine (CONROD). The Fellowship was established in 1996 to address concerns about the unacceptable morbidity and premature mortality associated with road trauma.
RACGP/Osteoporosis Australia Bone Health Research Grant
Diseases of the bones affect a large portion of the Australian community, producing enormous burden on individuals and the health system. The primary care team plays a key role in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
Rex Walpole Travelling Fellowship
The Rex Walpole Travelling Fellowship is designed to financially assist a plan of study for general practitioners or general practitioner registrars. The proposal should include a component of travel within Australia or overseas or both.
Vicki Kotsirilos Integrative Medicine Grant
The Vicki Kotsirilos Integrative Medicine Research Grant is offered for the first time in 2005 by Dr Vicki Kotsirilos. The grant is to encourage research that assists the integration of safe and ethical forms of natural and complementary medicines or therapies into mainstream general practice.
